Ghana’s unemployment situation is ‘scary’ – NSA Ashanti regional Director

The Ashanti Regional Director of the National Service Authority (NSA), Emmanuel Fynn Reagan, has expressed concern over Ghana's alarming unemployment situation. He warned that the country must take urgent action to address the challenge caused by the high number of young people entering the labor market each year exceeding job opportunities.

Speaking to the media on Thursday, Mr. Fynn Reagan emphasized the need for graduates to develop skills that enable them to create their own employment rather than relying solely on formal jobs. He highlighted that the National Service Authority's role extends beyond its traditional mandate of deploying graduates for national service.

Reagan stated that the authority is also committed to transforming and shaping the economy by equipping graduates with practical skills training. The initiative aims to empower young people with the ability to establish their own businesses when formal employment is not available. According to Mr. Fynn Reagan, graduates who successfully establish and grow their businesses can become entrepreneurs and create job opportunities for others, thus helping to reduce unemployment.

By shifting some young people from job seekers to job creators, this approach could significantly alleviate the unemployment challenge in Ghana.
