Galaxy S27 Pro leaks: Could Samsung's new tier be the sweet spot between Plus and Ultra?

A new filing has surfaced that confirms the existence of Samsung's rumored Galaxy S27 Pro. According to a tipster from SammyGuru, a battery with the model number EB-BS957CBY has been registered with India's Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) database, indicating an anticipated launch in early 2027. The certification process typically takes four to six months before a phone's announcement, aligning with the early 2027 debut.

If the leaks prove accurate, Samsung's Galaxy S27 lineup will consist of four models: the S27, S27+, S27 Pro, and S27 Ultra. The Pro will occupy an unusual position between the Plus and Ultra, potentially inheriting high-end features without the Ultra's bulk. A separate leak indicates the Pro might feature a 6.47-inch display, smaller than the Ultra.

The BIS filing does not disclose the battery's capacity, but earlier reports suggest a 5,200mAh battery, which is substantial for a phone with a smaller screen. Coupled with the 60W wired charging (as per Chinese 3C certification filings), it suggests Samsung is offering flagship-tier charging in a smaller package. Samsung's M16 OLED panels are expected to grace both the S27 Pro and Ultra, offering improved brightness, color accuracy, power efficiency, and display longevity.

However, the specific processor for the S27 Pro remains unclear, with potential regional split between a next-gen Snapdragon chip and Samsung's own Exynos 2700.

The leaks hint at a strategic move by Samsung, testing whether there is a market for a category between the Plus and Ultra. The S27 remains the entry point, the S27+ occupies the mainstream middle, the Ultra retains top-tier features, and the Pro becomes something distinct: Ultra-adjacent hardware in a smaller frame.
