Extreme heatwave hits Egypt, highs reach 46C alongside gusty winds

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority has warned of an extreme heatwave engulfing Egypt, with temperatures soaring to a record 46C in some areas. The north coast regions will face hot, humid conditions, while the rest of the country will experience moderate to warm temperatures. Cairo is expected to set a new high of 37C, with a perceived temperature of 39C.

South Upper Egypt could see a real-feel temperature of 46C. Dense morning fog may affect travel routes leading to Greater Cairo, the Canal Cities, Central Sinai, and North Upper Egypt. Light to moderate rainfall, sometimes accompanied by thunder, is possible in some northern coastal and Nile Delta areas. Wind activity is forecasted across most regions, potentially stirring up sand and dust in the Western Desert, North Upper Egypt, and open coastal areas. Sea conditions are moderate, with wave heights around 1.5 to 2 meters and northwesterly winds.
