Diaspora Ministry launches site collating United Nations bias against Israel in war against Hamas

The Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism Ministry recently launched an extensive international campaign to expose alleged United Nations bias against Israel. This effort precedes the UN General Assembly's debate, slated for September 22 in New York. The campaign's website, developed through the Government Advertising Agency, delves into claims of bias, manipulation, famine in Gaza, accusations of genocide, and publications that, according to the ministry, amplify such claims.

The site, which compiles a wealth of information, highlights six interconnected areas where the ministry alleges the UN exerts undue influence.

The first section, titled "Information manipulation by UN actors," scrutinizes the UN's adoption and dissemination of claims, statistical distortions, and omissions of essential context. This allegedly leads to predetermined conclusions, particularly concerning reports of starvation and genocide. The second section, "Toxic institutional culture," focuses on language and conduct within the UN that permits one-sided positions against Israel to be entrenched.

The third section, "The famine that wasn't," uncovers discrepancies in the UN's data, forecasts, and messaging regarding claims of famine in Gaza, suggesting a disconnect between the UN's presentation and on-the-ground realities.

The fourth section, "UNRWA compromised," presents findings on Hamas infiltration within the UNRWA agency and allegations of internal misconduct. It claims to have evidence of Hamas operatives' involvement in UNRWA, including at least 12% of its employees in the Gaza Strip, alongside the discovery of terrorist infrastructure within the agency's facilities.

The fifth section, "Manufacturing a genocide narrative," explores how severe accusations against Israel have emerged, along with what the ministry perceives as the weak foundations supporting these accusations. Finally, the section "Self-reinforcing ecosystem" reveals how claims move through various actors and publications, gaining a veneer of legitimacy even without independent verification, often referred to as "propaganda laundering."

The campaign emphasizes allegations of internal pressure and persecution. The ministry asserts that it documented instances of harassment and pressure faced by those seeking to uphold factual accuracy while those promoting anti-Israel narratives allegedly benefited. The website also features testimonies from senior officials and experts who claim to have experienced bullying and harassment within UN mechanisms.

Notably, Dr. Michel Thieren, a World Health Organization representative, and Alice Wairimu Nderitu, the former UN special adviser on the prevention of genocide, have voiced their experiences of persecution and bullying.
