David Beckham makes Ballon d'Or case for Lionel Messi after Campeones Cup triumph

In the wake of Inter Miami CF's triumphant 2026 Michelob ULTRA Campeones Cup victory over Cruz Azul, owner David Beckham has made a compelling case for his team's captain, Lionel Messi, to win the prestigious Ballon d'Or award. While the victory itself may not directly influence Messi's Ballon d'Or prospects, Beckham firmly believes that the Argentine superstar's remarkable performance throughout the past year warrants his nomination for the award once again.

Beckham, a seasoned player himself, understands the gravity of being named the world's best player and sees no reason why Messi should be excluded from consideration. He praised Messi's incredible year, highlighted by his role in leading Argentina to a second consecutive FIFA World Cup final and securing the Landon Donovan MLS MVP award for Inter Miami.

Beckham's unwavering support for Messi is evident as he stands among the club's most ardent fans, eagerly anticipating Messi's continued success and brilliance on the field.
