Hong Kong-based Dah Sing Bank has released its second edition of the Investor Confidence Index (ICI) survey, which gauges the confidence levels and investment behavior of local investors. Despite global economic uncertainties, geopolitical developments and market volatility, the survey found that investor confidence in Hong Kong remains strong and positive, with the ICI standing at 68, similar to last year's level.

Respondents who were confident about market conditions in the next 12 months expected an average investment return of 7.7%. The confidence index among high-value investors, those with assets above HKD8 million, was higher at 75, compared to the overall index.

The survey, conducted in August 2026, included 608 Hong Kong investors categorized as mass (liquid assets below HKD1 million), affluent (HKD1 million to HKD8 million) and high-value investors. Overall, 88% of respondents indicated they would maintain or increase their investment allocation over the next 12 months.

Equities and technology-related opportunities were the most favored asset classes, with 56% of respondents expecting positive returns from equities and 58% expressing interest in tech-related investment opportunities. However, 49% of respondents voiced concerns over AI-related asset valuations, and 46% were worried about geopolitical risks, while 38% feared an economic slowdown.

Dah Sing Bank's General Manager and Deputy Head of Wealth Management, Florence Cheung, noted that while investors seek returns, they are increasingly focusing on risk management and asset allocation. The bank plans to further educate customers on structured products, which cater to different market conditions and investor objectives, providing more flexible investment options.
