Chinese de-escalation initiative aligns with Saudi approach, analyst says

Political analyst Abdulmajid Al-Jalal has stated that China's efforts to ease tensions between the United States and Iran resemble Saudi Arabia's own policy of fostering stability and dialogue in the region. In an interview with Al-Ekhbariya TV, Al-Jalal commented on China's de-escalation initiative, which has been gaining traction amid shifting dynamics in the Middle East.

He suggested that military and economic pressures on Tehran might have played a role in Tehran's endorsement of China's approach. Al-Jalal characterized the Chinese initiative as a constructive step towards reducing regional tensions, emphasizing its alignment with Saudi Arabia's stance on de-escalation and stability-building. He noted that Saudi Arabia's approach to regional crises has garnered widespread regional and international backing, and that China's initiative is part of a broader strategy to encourage diplomatic dialogue and calm.

The Chinese proposal was reportedly discussed during a meeting between China's Foreign Minister and Iran's Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, as part of diplomatic efforts to curb US-Iran tensions and avert further escalation in the region.
