Brandon Sanderson Talks Blightfall, Wheel of Time, and Games of Thrones in Exclusive Interview

Brandon Sanderson recently had an exclusive interview with IGN, where he discussed his writing process, collaborations, and future projects. Balancing multiple stories and books is a challenge, but he only writes new material on one book at a time. He often revisits previously abandoned projects during revision months. Sanderson does not see himself slowing down, but the creative process is unpredictable.

Collaborating with Janci Patterson is an absolute delight, and she adds something special to his stories. The decision to write Blightfall as young adult fiction was made because the story revolves around teens in leadership roles on a planet where war has claimed the lives of many older citizens. He has no favorite series or book, viewing all of his creations equally cherished.

Sanderson's writing process has become more deliberate over the years, allowing him to better gauge what will work. Inspiration for his stories comes from "what if" questions about science fiction and fantasy. He is not currently considering TV adaptations while expanding the Cytoverse, but he would love to collaborate with Brotherwise Games on a tabletop game for the Cytoverse.
