Betis climb to third in La Liga with win over Getafe

MADRID: Ez Abde, a Moroccan international, secured a 1-0 victory for Betis against Getafe in La Liga on Thursday. The winger faced controversy after wearing a shirt supporting Spain's North African territory Ceuta before a previous match. Several Real Madrid players, like Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior, have also been criticized for concealing messages on their sleeves.

Abde found himself in the penalty area thanks to Troy Parrott and scored just before halftime. Betis dominated the match, controlling the ball and creating chances, even if some of them weren't the clearest. Coach Manuel Pellegrini praised the team's performance, noting that Getafe did not manage a single shot on target. Antony had earlier hit the post, while Isco missed several chances as the hosts fired at the opposing goal.

Getafe had to play with 10 men after Mario Martin received a second yellow card for a two-footed challenge. Currently, Betis trails Real Madrid by goal difference, both teams are three points behind Barcelona, who have won all six matches and scored 28 goals.
