Barbra Streisand Slams Trump’s ‘Unchecked Ego’ as POTUS Hints at Kennedy Center Demolition

Barbra Streisand has publicly criticized the ongoing changes to the Kennedy Center, accusing the former President Donald Trump of exercising an "unchecked ego." In a statement on her website, Streisand recalled the history of the Washington, D.C. landmark and its significance as a living memorial to President John F. Kennedy. She noted that her own inclusion among the Kennedy Center Honorees in 2008 represented a belief in the power of art to enrich democracy.

Streisand expressed her indignation at the former President's attempts to attach his name to the venue, which was met with widespread opposition from artists and the public. She pointed out that when Trump's name was still on the building, there was no talk of closing it. Recently, a federal judge ordered the Trump administration to provide at least 30 days' notice before demolishing the center, a prospect Streisand fears will soon become a reality after photos surfaced of the president reviewing a poster that read "Kennedy Center DEMOLISHED."

The center had temporarily closed on September 16 due to safety concerns, just hours after Trump stated that he would "rip down" the institution if he had his way.
