Avocado and herb exporter Karakuta Fresh Produce to list on NSE
Karakuta Fresh Produce founder and CEO Grace Ngungi said the listing would also allow more investors, including smallholder farmers, to participate in the agricultural value chain.
JUJA, Kenya – Kenyan avocado and herb exporter Karakuta Fresh Produce Ltd is set to list on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) once approved by the exchange and Capital Markets Authority. The proposed listing aims to provide the Nairobi-based company access to capital markets as it grows its operations and reaches new export destinations.
Founder and CEO Grace Ngungi said the listing would expand investor participation, including for smallholder farmers, by integrating them more into the agricultural value chain. Ngungi noted that Karakuta has invested eight years in building a modern packhouse with advanced grading capabilities and export channels to Europe, the Gulf, Asia, and now China.
Synesis Capital Director Makopa Mwasaria added that the listing will enhance the company’s market visibility and provide shareholders with a transparent platform for share trading. Established in 2018, Karakuta sources Hass and Fuerte avocados from over 3,000 farmers in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. The company operates a packhouse in Nairobi with a capacity for 250 containers, and exports its produce to various countries including the EU, UAE, Malaysia, India, and China.
Karakuta Fresh Produce currently employs 1,163 people across its operations, having created jobs since its inception.
