Appeals court stays recording of additional evidence in Rosmah case

The Court of Appeal has postponed the recording of additional evidence in Rosmah Mansor's appeal against her corruption conviction related to a RM1.25 billion solar hybrid project. A three-judge panel, led by Justice Azhahari Kamal Ramli, granted the stay after deputy public prosecutor Asnawi Abu Hanipah confirmed that Rosmah had no objections, following their discussions.

Rosmah's lawyer, Amer Hamzah Arshad, stated that the prosecution assured the defense that they would expedite their appeal to the Federal Court against the Court of Appeal's earlier decision to allow Rosmah to adduce extra evidence. The Court of Appeal has set October 7 as the date for case management, with the original High Court hearing scheduled to record the additional evidence within two weeks of that case management.

Rosmah, the wife of former Prime Minister Najib Razak, was convicted in September 2022 of soliciting RM187.5 million from a company managing director and receiving RM5 million and RM1.5 million from the same individual. She received a 10-year prison sentence and a RM970 million fine, with an additional 10 years if she failed to pay the fine.
