Anthropic to fold Claude AI features into one interface, launches document tools

Anthropic announced on Wednesday plans to consolidate Claude AI assistant's chat and cowork features into a single interface, alongside the introduction of document and presentation tools. The company aims to address user frustration caused by the need to switch between various tools for different tasks. This move follows OpenAI's July launch of ChatGPT Work, which merged its chatbot with its coding tool, Codex, signaling a fierce competition between the two AI-powered enterprise giants.

Users will no longer need to navigate through multiple platforms, as Claude will automatically select and utilize the necessary capabilities for each task. Additionally, Anthropic unveiled Claude Docs and Claude Slides in beta, enabling users to generate documents, presentations, and visual designs within a single conversation. The AI tool will facilitate the creation and export of documents to Google Docs or Microsoft Word, as well as presentations to PowerPoint or PDF files.

The update is set to launch initially for Pro and Max subscription plans on web, desktop, and mobile platforms over the coming weeks, with subsequent availability for Team and Free plans.
