AI infrastructure provider Crusoe valued at $30.9 billion in latest funding round

AI infrastructure company Crusoe announced on Thursday that it has secured $3.9 billion in a Series F funding round, bringing its post-money valuation to a staggering $30.9 billion. The funding was led by Atreides Management, Mubadala Capital, and Valor Equity Partners, with substantial contributions from existing investors such as Founders Fund, Nvidia, and QIA.

Crusoe, which started as a cryptocurrency business in 2018 before shifting focus to AI infrastructure, is now part of the growing "neocloud" sector that offers specialized AI cloud and data center services. The company has already invested heavily in expanding its programs and building its own AI factories to meet the burgeoning demand for computing capacity in the AI sector.

The magnitude of investment flowing into this industry is evident from a $22 billion chip loan and an initial $5 billion equity investment by Blackstone, alongside Blackberry's AI cloud venture Crux AI. The rapid pace of AI development has raised concerns among top industry executives, who are urging for a more measured approach to ensure the technology is not misused.

Crusoe, based in Denver, Colorado, currently boasts a total contracted value of over $140 billion and 6 gigawatts of contracted capacity, with 1 gigawatt already operational.
