AI Factories Key to Bridging Emerging ‘Intelligence Divide,’ Says JazzWorld CEO Aamir Ibrahim

Aamir Ibrahim, CEO of JazzWorld, emphasized the significance of AI factories in addressing the growing "intelligence divide." During the Leaders in Islamabad Business Summit, he stressed that AI could deepen the disparity between those with access to AI-driven capabilities and those without. Joined by Muhammad Azfar Ahsan and Dr. Faisal Hashmi, Aamir underlined the need for Pakistan to expand its infrastructure and skills to engage in the burgeoning global AI economy.

He defined AI factories as entities relying on energy, compute power, data centers, and data, and producing outputs like AI inference, tokens, software, code, video, and audio. With substantial global investment directed towards AI infrastructure, Pakistan stands to benefit. Aamir encouraged Pakistan to view itself as an "AI maker" instead of merely consuming foreign technologies.

He argued for creating AI systems that align with Pakistan's languages, culture, security needs, and local context. Additionally, he stressed the importance of sovereign AI, which entails having greater control over the nation's cognitive layer, surpassing the mere retention of data within the country. Aamir warned about the potential emergence of an "intelligence divide," where AI increasingly governs access to vital resources such as education, analysis, information, and software development.

He called for ensuring an intelligent future for every Pakistani, with every citizen possessing a smartphone and intelligence at their fingertips. Aamir reiterated during the closing leadership dialogue that Pakistan must capitalize on its strategic potential by converting it into economic opportunities. He highlighted the necessity of compute power, data centers, dependable energy, and connectivity to effectively participate in the global AI value chain.

Furthermore, stronger local AI capabilities could meet domestic requirements, enhance intelligence accessibility, generate new export prospects, and foster economic growth.
