Aakash Trims FY26 Loss By 16% To ₹186.5 Cr, Top Line Flat At ₹2,040 Cr

Gurugram-based test-prep company Aakash Educational Services Ltd (AESL) managed to reduce its net loss for financial year 2026 by 15.5% to ₹186.5 Cr, despite maintaining flat top line performance. Operating revenue grew marginally by 0.4% to ₹2,040.5 Cr from ₹2,032.1 Cr the previous year. Coaching revenue, the core business, increased by 0.3% year-over-year to ₹1,956.2 Cr, while franchisee revenue grew by 4% to ₹84.4 Cr.

However, non-operating income, including other income, more than doubled to ₹113.7 Cr, driven by a ₹76.1 Cr write-back of provisions and a ₹19.7 Cr gain from lease liabilities remeasurement. Total income rose 3.3% to ₹2,154.3 Cr in FY26 from ₹2,085.1 Cr in FY25. The company's total expenses remained largely flat, up almost 1% to ₹2,397.8 Cr from ₹2,378 Cr in FY25.

Loss before exceptional items and tax narrowed nearly 17% year-over-year to ₹243.5 Cr from ₹292.9 Cr. An exceptional charge of ₹23.3 Cr widened this to a pre-tax loss of ₹266.8 Cr, but the final loss after tax was reduced to ₹186.5 Cr due to a deferred tax credit gain of ₹80.3 Cr.
