2027: Benue APC stakeholders declare support for Alia, Tinubu’s re-election

A coalition of supporters within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State have publicly pledged their backing for the re-election of Governor Hyacinth Alia and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 general elections. This declaration was made during a press conference held in Abuja on Thursday, led by Dr. Dominic Alancha, the spokesperson for the Concerned Benue APC Stakeholders and Strategic Alliance.

Initially, the group had voiced objections to Governor Alia's re-election bid, citing what they perceived as "convenient interest" and other factors. However, they have since altered their stance, emphasizing the importance of the party's collective good over personal ambitions and disputes. Dr. Alancha explained, "As a spokesman for the Benue Strategic Alliance Group before now, I have led discussions against Governor Hyacinth Alia’s re-election bid in our state based on convenient interest and other factors, but we have now changed our stance because the party is supreme and as a loyal party man, the larger party interest must be respected."

The group cautioned against actions that might jeopardize the party's electoral prospects leading up to the 2027 elections, urging APC members to address any disagreements with the party leadership through established channels. They stressed that disagreements should be handled through appropriate party mechanisms, and that the party's constitution and rules should be applied uniformly to all members.

The stakeholders emphasized the importance of uniting as a single entity, urging all APC stakeholders in Benue to set aside personal differences and work together to bolster the party's position. They highlighted the accomplishments of the Alia administration as a solid foundation for the governor's bid for another term, and affirmed their commitment to mobilizing support for the re-election of Governor Alia and President Tinubu throughout the state.

The group called on any dissenting party members to seek resolution through the recognized party structures, warning that violations of the APC constitution could result in consequences as stipulated by the party's rules. They also encouraged Governor Alia to concentrate on governance and encouraged the party leadership to uphold the supremacy of the party's constitution, ensuring that any disciplinary actions are carried out in accordance with due process.

The stakeholders promised to extend their mobilization efforts to all local government areas, wards, units, and communities throughout Benue State ahead of the 2027 elections.
