Youth urged to consider careers in defence and aerospace

The Africa Aerospace and Defence exhibition, currently taking place at Waterkloof Air Force Base in Pretoria, is inviting young people to consider careers in South Africa's defence and aerospace industries. Families and learners have the opportunity to observe the newest technology and military equipment firsthand until Sunday.

Captain Greyling van den Berg of the Navy explains that the exhibition aims to spark interest among the younger generation. "We want to grab their attention so that they can see all the technologies, all the things they only see in movies. They can literally come and see and touch, and speak to the people who manufacture them," he says.

For those with teenage or young children, the exhibition is an excellent opportunity to introduce them to these industries. Captain van den Berg emphasizes, "So, for those of you who are interested and you've got teenage kids or young kids, come bring them through, and of course, the showstopper for this weekend is the air show, which takes place on Saturday and Sunday."
