Yogi Government’s Efforts Keep Power Supply Normal Across The State

The Yogi Government in Uttar Pradesh is actively working to maintain a stable power supply across the state. Chairman of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation, Dr. Ashish Kumar Goyal, has been reviewing the power supply situation with officials and issuing necessary directives to ensure electricity is delivered as per schedule in all regions. He emphasized utilizing any available power source to keep the supply consistent.

Recent operational resumption at Anpara-D, Harduaganj-E, and Unit-10 of Obra-B has boosted the state's power availability by approximately 1,300 MW on average. In the coming one to two days, additional power from APGC, Unit-2 of Singrauli, Unit-1 of TRN Energy, Unit-1 of Ghatampur, and units stopped due to boiler tube leakage at Jawaharpur should further increase availability by around 1,250 MW.

To address power shortages during peak summer months, the government has reached an agreement with Kerala State Electricity Board Director (Operations) Shiv S. Das and his team to receive 500-600 MW of electricity through power banking over the next five years. Currently, around 2,400 MW of electricity is received during peak hours via power banking from neighboring states like Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh.

However, the government faces challenges as thermal power plants are experiencing a lack of coal due to monsoon-related waterlogging in coal mining regions. This has led to reduced generation at several projects including Singrauli, Rihand, Khurja, Meja, Lanco, Rosa, and Bara, resulting in an average shortfall of 1,500 to 2,000 MW of electricity state-wide.

Despite these issues, the Yogi Government remains committed to maintaining normal power availability by effectively managing existing resources and exploring alternative solutions.
