Yemeni government vows firm response to Houthi escalation on Red Sea coast

Yemen's government has vowed to take strong action against the Houthi militia's growing threats on the Red Sea coast. Accusing the Iran-backed group of endangering regional security, global trade, and critical energy supplies, the Yemeni government is determined to protect the Red Sea and Bab Al-Mandab. In an official statement, the government emphasized that the Houthi escalation is no longer an internal Yemeni issue but has become a significant threat to freedom of navigation, energy supplies, and one of the world's most vital trade routes.

Addressing the UN Security Council, Yemen's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Abdullah Al-Saadi, stated that his government will handle the situation with full responsibility and determination, confident in its ability to regain the initiative and turn these events into an opportunity to strengthen national unity and reorganize resources.

Acknowledging that the militia once believed seizing the capital and state institutions by force was permanent, Al-Saadi assured regional and international partners that Yemen's sovereignty and the security of its waterways will be protected. He reiterated that the Yemeni Armed Forces are reorganizing and will prevent the militia from using its coastal presence to threaten Bab Al-Mandab and international navigation, adhering to international humanitarian law.

Al-Saadi stressed that Yemen is defending not only its national interests but also the global interest in a vital trade and energy passage. The ongoing Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, targeting cities, civilian infrastructure, and energy sources, are part of a larger threat structure that extends beyond Yemen's borders.
