Yemeni foreign minister urges action to halt Iranian support for Houthis

Qatar Charity (QC) has allocated a preliminary $1 million to provide emergency aid to Yemeni refugees who have been forced to leave their homes due to increasing violence. The International Organisation for Migration reported that over 85,000 people have been displaced within Yemen, with more than 2,000, primarily women and children, fleeing to Djibouti for safety.

The urgent package, as stated by QC, will prioritize meeting the immediate basic needs of these displaced families, who embarked on hazardous journeys to reach safety along Djibouti’s northern coastline. The assistance includes emergency shelter, essential non-food items, hot meals, ready-to-eat food provisions, safe drinking water, primary healthcare services, support for water, sanitation, and hygiene facilities, and nutritional support for mothers and children.

QC emphasized that this initiative aims to bolster support for host areas and communities grappling with the increasing strain caused by the influx of refugees. This intervention is being carried out in cooperation with local authorities and humanitarian partners to ensure that vital aid reaches the most vulnerable families as swiftly as possible.
