Xiaomi 18 Fold: What to know about Xiaomi’s new foldable

On September 7, 2026, Xiaomi unveiled its first foldable phone, the Xiaomi 18 Fold, in China. This marked a departure from the company's previous tall, narrow foldable designs. The new model is slated for a wider, shorter form factor. The announcement came just two days before Apple unveiled its iPhone Duo and around the time Huawei released its Mate XT2. Currently, Xiaomi has not announced any plans for a release in Nigeria or other African markets.

The phone will initially be available in China with entry-level versions starting at CNY 10,999. For Nigerian buyers, this means they would likely need to import the device from China through an independent seller or shipping service. Xiaomi's pricing for the 18 Fold ranges from CNY 10,999 up to CNY 12,999, with the Ceramic Special Edition priced at CNY 13,999. These prices do not include import charges, shipping, or insurance costs, so the final cost could be higher.

The smartphone comes in four color options: Black, Warm Gold, White, Xiye Red, and Pink. The Ceramic Special Edition features a silicon nitride back and is limited to just 1,500 units. The phone measures 117.8 x 83.6 x 10.68mm when closed and 117.8 x 163.8 x 5.02mm when unfolded, weighing 219 grams. It comes with a three-link Dragon Bone hinge, dual-layer UTG glass, a 7000-series aluminum frame, and IP58 and IP59 ratings. Despite these ratings, Xiaomi does not cover liquid damage under warranty.

The device sports two display screens: a 5.38-inch inner screen and a 7.58-inch outer screen. Both screens utilize AMOLED technology with a 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 4,000 nits. The phone is powered by the XRING O3 chip, a 3nm processor featuring 10 CPU cores, a 16-core GPU, and a 4-core NPU for AI tasks. Memory options range from 256GB to 1TB, with varying types of RAM. The device runs HyperOS 4, but the exact Android version and Android security support period are unconfirmed at this time.
