Women Built MAHA. MAGA Bros Have Taken It Over.

When Robert F. Kennedy Jr. aligned with Donald Trump in the 2024 election, he brought along a dedicated group of health-conscious voters known as Make America Healthy Again (MAHA). These women had been passionate advocates for whole foods, raw milk, and opponents of food additives and chemicals like glyphosate. However, the MAHA-MAGA partnership seems to be faltering, as tensions over action and glyphosate regulation emerge.

A notable moment was when Mike Tyson, a convicted rapist, appeared on TV promoting a health agenda, urging viewers to "Eat Real Food." This ad, sponsored by the MAHA Center, represented a more masculine version of the original movement. While women have been the driving force behind MAHA, pushing for healthier food choices and protesting against harmful substances, men have increasingly taken on leadership roles, including positions in the White House, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and the Food and Drug Administration.

The movement was built on a foundation of concerns about ultraprocessed foods, additives, chemicals, microplastics, and pesticides, but recent shifts in power dynamics raise questions about whether women who founded the movement will eventually challenge the male-dominated direction.
