Uttar Pradesh: SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav Targets BJP Over UCC Push, Calls It A Diversion From Public Issues

Lucknow: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav sharply rebuked the BJP over its push for a Uniform Civil Code (UCC), asserting it is merely a tactic to divert public focus away from more pressing issues. The SP president questioned the BJP's motives, referring to the UCC as an "Underground Communal Conspiracy." He urged the BJP to first fulfill previous pledges, such as depositing Rs 15 lakh in every bank account and generating two crore jobs, before introducing what he deemed a new "jumla."

Yadav also criticized the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh for governance and corruption, stating that removing the BJP from power was essential for democracy and the state's future. He contended that the administrative system in Uttar Pradesh had collapsed under the BJP regime, with corruption reaching unprecedented levels.

The SP leader emphasized the Samajwadi Party's commitment to uniting the PDA (Political Dalit Advancement), comprising backward classes, Dalits, and minorities, to defeat the BJP in Uttar Pradesh elections. The BJP, according to Yadav, has failed to implement any significant new schemes and has merely recycled projects from the previous Samajwadi Party government.

Furthermore, the SP leader accused the BJP of inadequately addressing crimes against women, pointing out a surge in cases related to fake encounters and deaths in police custody since the BJP's ascent to power.
