Unerlaubte Drohnenüberflüge: Viele Betreiber kritischer Infrastruktur ohne Drohnenschutz

Despite rising risks from unauthorized drone flights, many critical infrastructure operators in Germany lack protection measures. A survey conducted by the company Droniq and the Federal Association for the Protection of Critical Infrastructure (BSKI) found that over half of the 104 respondents (54.7 percent) experienced unauthorized or security-relevant drone flights in the past year.

However, nearly half (46.5 percent) of the affected organizations reported no drone detection measures in place. The survey, conducted in August, highlights a "gap between risk perception and preparation," according to the company and association. Jan-Eric Putze, CEO of Droniq, a joint venture between Deutsche Telekom and Deutsche Flugsicherung, emphasizes that operators of critical infrastructure must be aware of what is happening in their airspace, not just detect drones, but also judge which flying devices may and may not be present.

While 46.2 percent of respondents consider drones a real threat today, another 36.5 percent believe drones could become a threat in the future. The biggest risks identified by survey participants are sabotage (46.5 percent) and disruption of operations (39.5 percent). Concerns over espionage (7 percent) and data privacy risks (5.8 percent) are significantly lower.
