Ukraine will conclude new contracts to strengthen protection of Ukrzaliznytsia facilities – Zelenskyy
Protection of critical infrastructure, energy and railway logistics became the main topic of the meeting of the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced in his evening address on Tuesday that Ukrainian specialists have successfully tested a new domestically developed system to intercept jet-powered Shahed drones. The President reported that the Shahed was successfully hit during the test. The project is being refined, and work by other developers is ongoing as well.
Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of having a sufficient range of defenses against attack drones and noted that combat aircraft, including fighters and helicopters, are being deployed to provide cover for cities and villages. The interceptor crews responsible for downing standard Shaheds are operating effectively, with a shoot-down rate of 93 percent, although more is needed.
Zelenskyy concluded by stating that all necessary weaponry is being provided, with state resources and funds being allocated to ensure this effort's success.
