Ukraine ready for energy ceasefire but Russia is yet to agree, Zelenskyy says

Poland has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Ukraine following Russian drone attacks on Ukrainian territory near the Polish border. On Sunday, a Russian drone destroyed a gas station and a passenger train near the Dorohusk-Yahodyn border crossing, targeting Poland's efforts to support Ukraine. Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz said that supporting Ukraine is part of Poland's national interest, warning that Ukraine's defeat could worsen Poland's security situation.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, along with senior military commanders, discussed strengthening border security and preparing a coordinated response to Russia's actions. Ukrainian officials, including Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski, emphasized that Poland will respond seriously to Russia's escalation without provoking further aggression.

Polish political scientist Katarzyna Piskorska, who was on a special train returning from a security conference in Kyiv at the time of the attack, highlighted the need for increased support for Ukraine, citing a new generation of drones that can reach targets more quickly. Despite some skepticism in Polish public opinion, the government remains determined to support Ukraine, with Foreign Minister Sikorski even calling for doubling of aid to Kyiv.
