Spurs owners take 12-month investment to £300m with fresh £120m injection

Tottenham Hotspur's majority owners have increased their investment in the club to over £300 million in the past year, with a fresh £120 million injection. The family of billionaire Joe Lewis, who owns 70 percent of controlling ENIC Sports Inc, has contributed £120 million to the north London club, whose current Premier League standing is 17th.

This brings their total investment over the last year to £320 million. The new injection, designated for working capital, will see the family acquire additional shares in ENIC Sports Inc, as reported by Bloomberg. The club's heavy spending during the summer, including signings such as Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United for over £90 million, Mateus Fernandes (£85m, West Ham United), Savio (£75m, Manchester City), and Jan Paul van Hecke (£52m, Brighton and Hove Albion), led to underwhelming domestic campaigns.

It remains unclear if fellow shareholder Daniel Levy will participate in this investment, with earlier reports suggesting he may have sold a significant portion of his stake in the club. ENIC Sports Inc, owned by the Lewis family trust and other individuals, holds 88 percent of Tottenham Hotspur, with a few minority shareholders remaining.

The Lewis family had previously stated that resolving the club’s issues "requires investment and we are fully committed to this." They emphasized that they are not selling the club and are dedicated to the investment. Their statement to fans reads, "We care deeply about Spurs. The rebuild the club needs, and you deserve, has begun.

The change required is deep. It will take time and commitment, but change is happening." Tottenham Hotspur faces Aston Villa in the Premier League this Saturday.
