LAHORE: The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) has joined forces with Japan’s Organisation for Small & Medium Enterprises and Regional Innovation (SMRJ) to assist Pakistani SMEs in joining the 'J-GoodTech' online B2B platform. This partnership is part of SMEDA's effort to internationalize Pakistan's SMEs, enabling them to venture beyond domestic markets and integrate into global value chains.
Through the platform, Pakistani SMEs will be able to explore distributorship agreements, secure orders from Japanese buyers, establish joint ventures, and engage in technical collaborations with companies worldwide.
Officials reveal that the collaboration underscores SMEDA's renewed focus on linking Pakistani businesses with international markets and technology partners, aiming to expand SMEs' customer base, enhance capabilities, and facilitate cross-border commercial opportunities. To participate, interested enterprises must fill out a registration form available on SMEDA's website, which complies with SMRJ's specifications.
SMEDA will review the submitted applications and, upon approval, forward eligible cases to SMRJ for the creation of company profiles on the platform.
This initiative will focus on sectors like advanced manufacturing, medical equipment, and eco-technology, although it remains open to SMEs across all economic sectors. The collaboration is part of SMEDA's broader strategy to secure partnerships and discussions with international development organizations, technology platforms, and business networks. This includes previous collaborations with Alibaba.com, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and counterparts in Russia, Uzbekistan, and Malaysia.
