Shettima commissions Kwara garment factory, revenue house

Vice President Kashim Shettima officially opened a garment factory in Ilorin, the capital city of Kwara State, with the ability to provide employment to 4,000 individuals at full capacity. Additionally, he inaugurated the 11-story Kwara Revenue Service House as part of the festivities celebrating the installation of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as the Sardauna of Ilorin.

This information was conveyed in a statement released on Wednesday by Stanley Nkwocha, the Senior Special Assistant to the President for Media and Communications at the Office of the Vice President. The statement emphasized that the garment factory is a key project of the AbdulRazaq administration aimed at providing employment to at least 4,000 people once operational.

The commissioning of these projects marked the turbaning ceremony of AbdulRazaq as the Sardauna of Ilorin, a role he described as the "Defence Minister of Ilorin Emirate" by the Emir, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari. Shettima praised AbdulRazaq's administration for maintaining a legacy of continuity and recalled the influential role played by AbdulRazaq's late father, AbdulGaniyu AbdulRazaq, who is recognized as the first lawyer from Ilorin and Northern Nigeria.

Shettima highlighted the importance of understanding how a name can represent generations and the significance of the relationships between the new governor and his predecessors. He also discussed his personal friendship with AbdulRazaq, noting that their discussions extend beyond ceremonial events and that they share responsibilities in public office.

Shettima emphasized the importance of maintaining human connections while being accountable to the demands of public service. He also mentioned that AbdulRazaq is actively engaged in discussions with the Federal Government and development partners as the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum, focusing on the needs of farmers, households, and businesses.

The turbaning ceremony made AbdulRazaq the first person to hold the title of Sardauna of Ilorin, with representatives from several other state governors in attendance.
