Russian drones hit Ukrainian bus and train, killing five, officials say

On Wednesday, Russian drones targeted a passenger bus and a train in southern Ukraine, resulting in the deaths of five individuals, according to Ukrainian officials. The Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, condemned the attack, calling it a "brutality" and urging the U.S. and Europe to strengthen sanctions against Russia.

The attack on the bus near Nikopol took place early on Wednesday and killed four men and a woman, leaving four others injured, as reported by the governor of the Dnipropetrovsk region. No immediate response has been issued by Russia regarding the attack.

Additionally, a passenger train in Ukraine's southern Mykolaiv region was targeted by a Russian drone, although all 168 passengers and crew were safely evacuated and no injuries were reported. The same train was struck twice more following the initial attack, according to Heorhii Reshetilov, the acting regional governor.

Zelenskiy also mentioned that a locomotive near the border with Poland was similarly targeted. This series of events follows previous drone strikes on Ukrainian railways, with Russia having attacked 120 passenger wagons, 304 locomotives, and 43 railway stations so far this year. Ukraine's Foreign Minister, Andrii Sybiha, emphasized that these strikes are not accidental, but a deliberate assault on essential civilian infrastructure and an attempt to disrupt the economy and civilian life.
