Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has not yet agreed to an energy truce with Russia, according to his recent statements. However, Ukraine remains open to the possibility if Russia ceases its attacks on energy facilities. Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine's approach is defensive, responding to opportunities as they arise, due to Putin's disregard for negotiation with a weak adversary.

He acknowledged that discussions on an energy truce took place during a meeting in Kyiv with U.S. presidential advisors Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. Zelenskyy clarified the differing viewpoints between Russia and Ukraine regarding the energy sector - Russia's focus on oil and gas exports versus Ukraine's need to provide electricity to its population.

The Ukrainian leader stated that if Russia is willing to honor an energy truce, Ukraine would refrain from attacking energy facilities. Initially, U.S. President Donald Trump announced a mutual agreement between Ukraine and Russia to refrain from striking energy sector installations, attributing the surge in global diesel prices to the ongoing conflict.

Later, Zelenskyy mentioned that Ukraine had offered to assist partner nations in reaching an agreement with Russia to halt the destruction of crucial infrastructure.
