RMAFC chief hails Otti, declares Abia best-governed state

Dr. Muhammed Shehu, Chairman of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), recently praised Governor Alex Otti of Abia State for his exceptional management of the state's resources. During a visit to the governor's office in Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area, Shehu commended Otti for his investments in road infrastructure and education, which have significantly impacted the state.

He stated, "I am so glad that today I am able to make it, to see you here and to see all the developmental strides that you have taken and are still undertaking since you assumed office as the Executive Governor of this state." Shehu declared Abia the best-governed state in Nigeria, citing its improved fiscal performance, peaceful environment, and fiscal transparency, which have moved the state from 17th to fourth position in fiscal transparency.

Otti's efforts in primary healthcare, fiscal transparency, and security were also highlighted by Shehu. He appreciated the governor's support in the commission's efforts to strengthen its operations and fulfill its constitutional mandate, including the provision of land for the construction of the commission's office in the state.

Shehu also expressed optimism about the proposed reforms in the commission's revenue allocation formula, which he believes will empower states to do more for their people. Governor Otti responded positively, expressing his optimism about the proposed changes and his continued support for the commission's success.
