'Promoter's Decision, Not Mine...': Ed Sheeran Shares Statement After Macklemore Was Removed From His Tour Due To 'Free Palestine' Speech

Ed Sheeran's North American Loop tour has recently garnered attention for a controversial reason. On September 4, during a performance in New Jersey, rapper Macklemore delivered a speech advocating for Free Palestine. This led to his removal from the tour.

In a lengthy statement on Instagram, Sheeran expressed his dismay over the Israel-Palestine conflict, describing it as a "human tragedy." He revealed that Macklemore had reached out to him a year prior to discuss the matter. Sheeran noted that venues were requesting to cancel their shows if Macklemore was scheduled to perform, citing his message as the reason.

Sheeran attempted to mediate between the venues and Macklemore, speaking with them extensively during the week to try and find a compromise. However, the final decision rested with the promoters and venues. Sheeran clarified, "Macklemore coming off tour was the promoter's decision, it was not mine. Macklemore's contract for the tour was with the promoter, not me."

Sheeran emphasized his commitment to his fans, stating he wouldn't let them down or abandon the touring crew and other support acts.
