Police: Sri Petaling bomb scare turns out to be team-building game equipment left behind by worker

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 16 — Police in Sri Petaling have announced that a suspicious plastic box discovered unattended in front of a shoplot was found to contain toy building blocks associated with a team-building game. Assistant Commissioner Hoo Chang Hook of Brickfields police confirmed that the box was handed to them by a company director who recognized it as belonging to his organization.

The box had been left behind by a company employee who had participated in a team-building programme in Ipoh, Perak, from September 11 to 12. The employee had inadvertently left the box on his way home around 11pm on September 12. The employee claimed he left the box due to fatigue after completing the programme. Police investigations revealed that the box contained 20 plastic toy blocks from a game called ‘Radioactive Bomb’, which is utilized for group team-building activities.

The police later learned that the company offers similar games, including ‘Radioactive Bomb’, designed to foster cooperation and mental agility among participants. A bomb disposal unit was dispatched to the scene on September 14 following a public alert. The box was ultimately destroyed using a specialized bomb disposal device.
