Police confirm eighth woman found dead in Gauteng as Kempton Park probe widens

Acting national police commissioner Puleng Dimpane has announced a R400,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for the deaths of eight women whose bodies have been found in various locations in Gauteng. The reward is being offered as police investigate a series of cases involving women whose bodies have been discovered in areas such as Kempton Park, Clayville, Olifantsfontein, Rhodesfield and Kwa-Thema. Police are treating the cases collectively, working to establish if they are connected.

Dimpane revealed that a team of specialised investigators had been formed to look into the cases, backed by crime intelligence and other experts. The first body was found in July, followed by seven more women over the following months. One arrest has been made in connection with one of the cases, while another suspect is being pursued for another case.

The police commissioner appealed to families and the public to come forward with information about missing loved ones. She stressed that identifying the victims would help the investigation and potentially crack the cases. The reward was intended to bolster the investigation and encourage community involvement.

The bodies were discovered in various states of decomposition, with one victim found naked and restrained with cable ties, and another found floating in a river without clothing apart from underwear. Police are working to identify the victims through forensic processes.
