Police arrest suspects linked to murder of officer attached to Imo commissioner

The Imo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of two suspects, Olivia Patrick, 31, and ThankGod Maurice, 25, who are allegedly linked to the murder of Police Inspector Henry Effiong. Inspector Effiong was attached to the residence of Rex Anunobi, the Commissioner for Trade, Commerce and Investment. The arrest followed a report of the incident, after which State Commissioner of Police, Audu Garba Bosso, ordered a thorough investigation.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigations Department, along with the DPO of the New Owerri Division, investigated the scene, recovered evidence, and secured the remains of the deceased officer. The matter has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigations Department for further investigation, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other suspects at large.

CP Audu Garba Bosso has directed the investigating team to ensure those found culpable face prosecution according to the law. The command has commiserated with Inspector Effiong's family and assured them that the Command remains committed to serving justice. The situation is under control, and appropriate security measures are in place to ensure public safety.
