Panasonic just dropped a small, affordable wideangle prime for Lumix S9 vloggers – and maybe for landscape photographers, too.

Panasonic recently unveiled a new compact, lightweight wideangle prime lens for its S-system full-frame cameras. The Panasonic Lumix S 20mm F2.5 follows a similar design to the recently released Lumix S 40mm F2, catering to its S9 body's rangefinder-style. This wideangle lens is perfect for landscapes, architecture, video, and vlogging.

Key specifications of the Panasonic Lumix S 20mm F2.5 include a £429 price tag, a 62mm filter thread, an 18cm minimum focus distance, a 69.4mm diameter, a 40.9mm length, and a weight of 142g. Its size and weight are identical to the 40mm model and make it easily interchangeable with a gimbal for filmmakers. The lens also features dust and splash-resistant construction and accepts 62mm filters, although there is no hood available.

The Lumix S 20mm F2.5 will be released in black or silver, with the latter version exclusive to Panasonic Direct. The lens will be available alongside a firmware update for the Lumix S9 (Version 2.1), which adds support for additional functions on the Lens Fn button, as well as enhanced recording capabilities, including 4K 60p/50p in MP4 (Lite) format, and Full HD 120p/100p/60p/50p. These updates will be available for download starting October 13th.
