Pakistan’s Non-Life Insurance Market Estimated at $1 Billion — TPL Insurance CEO Muhammad Aminuddin

TPL Insurance CEO Muhammad Aminuddin highlighted that 97% of registered vehicles lack coverage, and the increasing adoption of residential solar systems presents another largely uninsured asset class.

Aminuddin also noted that rapid changes in lifestyles, employment, mobility, and consumption patterns are creating opportunities for new products in health, income protection, and other emerging risks.

To tap into this vast potential, insurers must develop products tailored to evolving consumer and business risks while moving beyond traditional distribution models. Aminuddin emphasized the importance of integrating protection into the products and services already used by consumers, such as embedded insurance, usage-based pricing, and digital distribution.

Furthermore, he stressed the role of artificial intelligence, smart wearables, and connected technologies in enhancing risk assessment, pricing, customer engagement, and personalizing products.

However, Aminuddin stressed that technology alone is not sufficient for growth in the insurance sector. A robust regulatory framework is necessary to address concerns around data ownership, access, liability, and information sharing. Greater transparency, simplified processes, and confidence in fair and timely claims settlement are also key to strengthening consumer trust and encouraging more Pakistanis to join the formal insurance system.
