On The Brink Of Divorce, 4 Couples Reconcile After Counselling At Navi Mumbai Lok Adalat

Navi Mumbai recently witnessed a significant event at the Family Court in Belapur, where four couples who were on the brink of divorce found their way back to each other through counselling and mediation during the National Lok Adalat. These couples, who had been separated for several months and had sought divorce, were encouraged to resolve their issues through open communication and mutual understanding instead of ending their marriages.

Organized by the Maharashtra State Legal Services Authority on September 12, the event was led by a panel of distinguished judges, lawyers, and counsellors, including R.D. Sawant, Principal District and Sessions Judge and Chairman Thane District Legal Services Authority. Of the 1,406 family dispute cases currently pending at the Family Court, 44 were presented before the Lok Adalat.

While seven cases saw compromise, four couples chose to restore their relationships. Principal Judge Subhash Kafre emphasized that while divorce may seem like the only option in every marriage, communication and understanding can help couples overcome their differences. The Lok Adalat not only served as a venue to resolve cases but also aimed to bring estranged couples together.

The four couples who reunited were honored by the Navi Mumbai Bar Association with certificates and gifts, underscoring the importance of resolving disputes through amicable means.
