The U.S. efforts to block Chinese AI advancement, both through hardware restrictions and software accusations, have apparently failed, as Chinese models like DeepSeek and Kimi K3 have gained popularity and outperformed more expensive frontier models. China's policy acknowledges the risks Amodei raised, stating that AI development must be monitored to prevent it from going beyond human control.

The state media outlet emphasizes the need for cooperation between China and the U.S. to manage these risks, rather than treating the AI race as a zero-sum game.
