Need a Lyft to the polls? The ride-hailing app is once again offering free or discounted rides this election season

As election season looms, ride-hailing giant Lyft is stepping in to help voters overcome potential obstacles to casting their ballots. For the sixth consecutive year, Lyft's "Lyft Up Voting Access Program" will provide discounted rides to polling locations on Election Day, November 3. This initiative, now in its sixth year, is accessible to all across the United States, from New York City to Alaska, who simply enter the code "VOTE26" when booking a ride before the election.

The 50% discount, capped at $10 per ride, aims to make transportation a non-issue for those who might otherwise be unable to make it to the polls. Lyft's commitment to voting access dates back over a decade, with the program designed to be inclusive of all voters, regardless of location or political affiliation. According to the company's senior director of policy impact and operations, Christine Campigotto, the program seeks to ensure that transportation is not a barrier to voting, a concern echoed by research showing that voters with car access are 30% more likely to participate in elections.

Campigotto herself will be attending the Fast Company Innovation Festival in New York on Wednesday, where she will participate in a discussion on how business leaders can contribute to political engagement during this year's midterm elections.
