NDC orders members to stop premature parliamentary campaign activities

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has instructed its members to cease all activities that resemble parliamentary campaign efforts, according to a recent announcement. This directive was issued by the party’s Functional Executive Committee (FEC) following reports of members involved in activities aimed at promoting parliamentary candidatures across different constituencies.

The NDC, in a press release dated September 14, 2026, warned against organizing or participating in meetings, engagements, constituency tours, donations, public appearances, or any other activities that could be perceived as promoting a parliamentary bid prior to the official opening of nominations. The party emphasized that such actions are unseemly and could jeopardize the unity, cohesion, and smooth functioning of the party.

Members who continue to engage in such activities will face severe consequences, including disciplinary measures, as outlined in the NDC’s Constitution, rules, and regulations. The FEC has also tasked Regional, Constituency, Branch, and other party officers with ensuring compliance with the directive and reporting any violations to the relevant party authorities.

The NDC remains dedicated to conducting a transparent, orderly, and credible process for selecting its parliamentary candidates and assured that the official nomination process and guidelines will be announced in due course. This directive follows the commencement of the NDC’s 2026 internal elections, with constituency executive positions already under nomination.

The party urged all members to adhere to its established procedures to maintain party unity and discipline.
