Mumbai City Kickboxers Shine At National Championships

Mumbai City kickboxers displayed exceptional talent at the WAKO India National Kickboxing Championship 2026 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The championships included the Senior & Masters category and the first-ever Para National Kickboxing Championship. Representing the Sports Kickboxing Association, Mumbai City athletes excelled in both general and para categories.

At the Senior & Masters event, they competed in Point Fight, Light Contact, Kick Light, Low Kick, and Team Point Fight disciplines. Notable victories included Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals by Patil, Ashwini Jambale, Harsh Salekar, Trishna Naik, and Darshana Agawane. Pradnesh M. Patwardhan also contributed to the team's success in the Point Fight category.

In the Para National Kickboxing Championship, Mumbai City's para athletes achieved remarkable results. Vinod Rawat, Sudhakar Patil, and Hemlataben Machhi secured Gold medals, while Rohit More and Murugesh won Silver medals. Aman Thalhari claimed a Bronze medal, bolstering the team's performance.

The athletes' success was a testament to their rigorous, disciplined training under the guidance of the Sports Kickboxing Association, Mumbai City. Support from the Gurukul Kriti Foundation Trust, who offered free training and sports equipment, played a crucial role. District Association President Umesh Murkar and International Referee and Coach Vighnesh Murkar provided invaluable assistance in fitness, technique, tactics, and mental preparation. Coach Ashish Mahadik also contributed significantly to the team's accomplishments.
