MoL holds workshop on National Referral System for combating human trafficking

Doha, Qatar - The Ministry of Labour, alongside the National Committee for Combating Human Trafficking and the National Human Rights Committee, convened a workshop on the National Referral System for Combating Human Trafficking.

The workshop, titled "National Referral System for Combating Human Trafficking: Protecting and Rehabilitating Victims and Promoting Human Rights", aimed to bolster Qatar's framework for combating human trafficking, protecting victims, and ensuring an integrated response.

Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour and Secretary-General of the National Committee, Sheikha Najwa bint Abdulrahman Al Thani, highlighted the significance of the National Referral System, describing it as a practical framework that clarifies roles, intervention points, and case referrals.

She emphasized that human trafficking is a complex and evolving crime, requiring a flexible response that adapts to new challenges. The National Referral System is not just a set of procedures, but a framework that ensures no gaps in the response and no duplication of efforts.

Secretary-General of the National Human Rights Committee, Sultan bin Hassan Al-Jamali, underscored that the system aligns with Qatar's Constitution and legislative measures, safeguarding human dignity and protecting human rights, especially of vulnerable groups. He noted that the National Referral System extends the State's commitments to international treaties.
