Missing couple found dead in Bijnor; man tied to a tree in wife’s clothes

Bijnor police discovered the bodies of a missing couple in a field on Tuesday, under puzzling conditions. The deceased were identified as Chottu and his wife, Sushma, who were residents of Jalalpur. The pair had been missing since Monday, with a missing person's report filed by their son. Upon locating the woman's body, the police found her semi-naked, with injuries to the neck, just 50 meters away from their field on the banks of the Ganga river.

In stark contrast, the man's body was discovered hanging from a tree, tied with a wire, around a kilometer distant from their home. Chottu was found donning his wife's salwar. Preliminary investigation suggests Chottu allegedly strangled his wife before taking his own life. The reason behind the tragic incident remains unestablished.

Superintendent of Police Krishan Kumar stated that the bodies have been sent for postmortem examinations, and the investigation is still ongoing. According to police, the couple had ventured into their field on Monday morning. When the couple failed to return home by afternoon, their son embarked on a search in the forest but could not locate them.

Their son alerted the police, who started a search with the assistance of local residents and forest officials; however, the search was aborted due to rain on Monday night. Subsequently, the bodies were recovered by the police on Tuesday morning. A forensics team and a dog squad were also deployed to scrutinize the scene.
