Meeting Modi gives 15-year land dispute a new turn

For the past 15 years, Asgar Ali Vora, an 81-year-old man, has been attempting to resolve a land dispute in Bhayander with government authorities. The property, which he claims was seized by developers in 2011, has now been reignited following a meeting with fellow schoolmate and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 8. After the encounter, Vora informed government agencies about the issue, which subsequently received attention.

A subsequent meeting held at Mantralaya, chaired by Shrikar Pardeshi, principal secretary to the Maharashtra chief minister, saw both parties agree on a resolution. Narendra Mehta, a local BJP MLA, agreed to surrender possession of the disputed land and construction approval granted for it. The resolution marks a significant development in a case that has persisted for nearly a quarter-century, with the two parties reportedly reaching an agreement.
