Meet the Scottish teen brothers close to Uganda international debut

Partick Thistle footballers Olly and Seb Fisher, aged 18 and 16 respectively, are poised for potential international debuts with Uganda's national youth teams. The brothers, who share a strong family connection to Uganda through their grandmother and mother, were invited to train with Uganda's Under-20 and Under-17 teams after their father introduced them to a football consultant in Nigeria.

Olly, a goalkeeper, and Seb, a striker, have embraced the opportunity, with both expressing feelings of surprise and honor upon being selected. Their mother, Kate, was born in Uganda, and their grandparents lived there for several years after their grandfather moved to teach. Uganda Under-20 head coach and former Hearts and Ghana midfielder Laryea Kingston welcomed the brothers to the team, suggesting they could become the first white players to represent the country—a claim that has not been independently verified.

The brothers have quickly settled into the squad, with teammates praising their welcoming nature. Both hope their involvement with Uganda could lead to competitive international appearances, with Olly aiming for the Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations and Seb potentially making the Under-17 squad for the World Cup in Qatar. The brothers plan to return to Scotland soon, where they will continue their football commitments at Partick Thistle while pursuing further opportunities with Uganda.
