Man Utd, Villa target last 16 as Carabao Cup draw holds Wednesday night

The Carabao Cup fourth-round draw is set to take place on Wednesday night, with 16 teams vying for a spot in the next round. As of now, 11 clubs have already secured their places, while five spots remain to be determined. The draw will be conducted shortly after Manchester United's match against Brighton, with Pien Meulensteen hosting the event.

Jamie Redknapp and Ashley Young from former Liverpool and Aston Villa captained the ball selection process. Bournemouth, Crystal Palace, Sunderland, Newcastle United, Chelsea, and Bradford City have already secured their spots in the fourth round after winning their third-round ties. On Tuesday, Arsenal, Liverpool, Fulham, Brentford, and Peterborough United also joined the ranks.

Arsenal claimed their place with a 4-2 win away to Ipswich Town, while Liverpool progressed after defeating Tottenham Hotspur 3-1. Fulham beat West Ham United 3-2, Brentford triumphed over Reading 2-1, and Peterborough United advanced on penalties after a 3-3 draw with Barnsley. To make room for the final third-round tie on Thursday, where defending champions Manchester City will face Championship side Norwich City, the winner of this match will be represented by a placeholder in the Wednesday night draw.

The four remaining third-round ties are scheduled to be played on Wednesday before the draw, with Everton hosting Wolves, Fleetwood Town facing Sheffield United, Coventry City taking on Aston Villa, and Manchester United welcoming Brighton. The fourth-round ties are set to be played in the week commencing October 26.
