Malaysia Day: PM Anwar calls for renewed commitment to unity

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim emphasized that no region or community should be left behind in Malaysia's development. He stressed that Malaysia Day should be a renewed commitment to national unity and shared progress. On September 16, Malaysians should remember that the nation was built on a bond among the government, people, regions, and the Federation, as well as loyalty and justice.

In a Facebook post, Anwar highlighted that the country's journey has at times strayed, with racial issues exploited, regional disparities widening, and differences turned into walls. He urged the commitment to be renewed constantly to prevent any region from being marginalized, any community feeling isolated, and no Malaysian left behind.

While the South China Sea separates Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, and Sarawak geographically, it should not divide their shared aspirations for the nation. Anwar urged Malaysians to view the country's diversity as a strength and foundation for building a more united Malaysia. He stressed that the spirit of Malaysia Day requires all regions and communities to share in the country's development and ensure the benefits of progress reach Malaysians, regardless of their location.
